Water is one of Peachland’s most important resources. Our community currently relies on the Peachland Creek watershed for its potable water, with Peachland Lake serving as our primary water source and Glen Lake forming another important part of the watershed system.

In 2026, Peachland experienced ongoing drought conditions, historically low snowpack and upland lake levels below historic norms, resulting in Stage 3 water restrictions. While recent modelling indicates that Peachland Lake can meet projected community demand for approximately 25 to 30 years, the District also acknowledges that climate change and continued growth are expected to place increasing pressure on our water supply.

After attending a local Water Stewardship Symposium and learning more about the relationship between snowpack, forests, hydrology and water supply, I wanted to see our watershed for myself. I visited both Peachland Lake and Glen Lake and documented their current conditions so residents who may never have the opportunity to travel into the watershed can see these important places for themselves.

The videos below were filmed on October 4 and 5, 2026. They are not intended to draw conclusions from lake levels observed on a particular day, but to provide a visual record and encourage a broader conversation about how we understand, manage and protect the watershed our community depends upon.
